Refugee Sewing Society

Location: United States

We are refugees who have escaped genocide. We fled from many countries -- Sudan, Somalia, Rwanda, Burundi, Burma, Bhutan, and others. Our aim is to find healing through creative arts and crafts. Our dream is to build self-sustaining businesses that will allow us to work at home while caring for our children.Refugee women from war-torn nations gather each week at Clarkston Community Center in Atlanta, Georgia. While sewing, knitting, crocheting, beading and embroidering, we share joys and sorrows. Many of us have lost husbands, fathers, and children to war. We have endured great suffering. But we believe our lives have purpose and hope. Please help fulfill the aims of The Refugee Sewing Society by purchasing our handmade products.
